A three-run first inning for Ursuline led to a 9-0 five inning win over West Virginia Tech at the Fastpitch Spring Dreams Classic on Sunday evening.

Leah Leshnack led the game off with a base hit to center field and moved to second on a single from junior
Brooklyn Miller. Senior
Karlie Wilbur picked up the third Arrows hit of the inning to load the bases. Seniors
Alison Hughes and
Hannah Trent were both hit by pitches to drive in runs and make it 2-0.
Adriana Nicpon drove in a run with a single to the right side of the infield to make it 3-0.

Leading 3-0 in the third inning, Hughes started the inning with a double to center field and freshman
Kat Ferretti walked. Nicpon drove in two runs with a double to left field to make it 5-0.

Still leading 5-0 in the fourth inning, Hughes was hit by a pitch for the second time to start the inning and freshman
Kat Ferretti singled to put two on with no outs. Senior
Hannah Trent followed with a bunt base hit and Hughes came around to score to make it 6-0. Â Nicpon drove in her second run of the game with a groundout to make it 7-0.

Leshnack picked up an RBI triple to score pinch-runner
Matyson Michalski to make it 8-0 and junior
Brooklyn Miller drove in the final run with a base hit to the left side to make it 9-0.

Nicpon finished 2-for-3 with a career-high four RBI while Miller and Leshnack each had two hits and drove in a run.

Miller earned the win with five innings of shutout work while striking out 10 and walking just one batter.
