Arrows Fall to Panthers in Overtime on Thursday Afternoon

The Ursuline College soccer team dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to visiting Ohio Dominican University on Thursday afternoon in Pepper Pike.

It was the second conference game this season for Ursuline that went to overtime after the Arrows defeated Malone in double overtime earlier this season.

Ohio Dominican opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game when Samantha Buck's shot was followed in by Mari Silverstri to make it 1-0.

The Arrows answered back late in the first half in the 32-minute when freshman Dominique Buddenhagen scored her first career goal on an assist from junior Brooke Mahabir.

Just seconds later Hannah Knobloch answered the Arrows goal with a score for the Panthers to put Ohio Dominican back in front 2-1.

In the 68th minute, senior Haley Knox converted a penalty kick for the Arrows to tie the match 2-2.

With less than three minutes to play in the overtime period, Becca Gordon put a shot from outside in the box past the Ursuline goalkeeper Gina Cerny despite a diving attempt to win the match for ODU.

The Panthers outshot the Arrows 27-12 in the match including 11-9 in shots on goal. Ohio Dominican also held the edge in corner kicks 8-3.

Ursuline will travel to Cedarville on Saturday evening at 6pm to take on the Yellow Jackets. The last time the two teams met was in the Great Midwest Tournament first round last October in which the Arrows eliminated the Yellow Jackets in a thrilling match that ended in penalty kicks.
