Arrows Host Storm in Great Midwest Opener Wednesday

Both teams are coming off overtime performances in their season openers on Monday afternoon. The Arrows battled Maine at Fort Kent to a 3-3 tie after two overtimes while Lake Erie fell to Ashland 2-1 in the first overtime period.

Ursuline jumped out to a 3-0 lead behind two quick goals from senior Steph Chlad and a goal from sophomore Chiara Baker before the Bengals rallied back to tie the game late in regulation to force overtime.

Despite numerous chances by both squads in the extra periods neither team scored in the final 20 minutes.

Lake Erie had a 1-0 lead at the half over Ashland on a goal by Kristen Redwood but the Eagles tied the match up in the 55th minute to force overtime before winning in the first six minutes of the extra frame.

The Storm finished 2016 with a 7-10 record and were 2-9 in the GLIAC before joining the Great Midwest for 2017-18.

Ursuline and Lake Erie met in non-conference action on September 27 in which the Storm edged the Arrows 1-0. The Storm won the previous meeting in Pepper Pike during the 2015 season 3-0 late in October.

The Arrows will step out of conference play on Sunday with a trip to Clarion to take on the Golden Eagles at 1:00pm.
