The Ursuline College soccer team opened Great Midwest Athletic Conference play with a 2-1 win at home over Davis & Elkins College on Thursday afternoon.
The Arrows (3-0, 1-0) jumped out to an early lead when freshman
Jill Bohling converted a long pass from senior
Cassie Cripe into the back of the net to make it 1-0 four minutes into the match.
Ursuline made the 1-0 lead stand through the rest of the first half before Bohling added her second goal of the game in the 50
th minute to make it 2-0. Bohling has now scored three goals in the last two games for Ursuline.
The Senators got on the board three minutes later when sophomore Katrina Giantsopoulous scored an unassisted goal to make it 2-1.
The Arrows defense turned away several key Senators' chances down the stretch to win their fourth straight G-MAC opener dating back to 2013.
Ursuline outshot Davis & Elkins 12-8 on the afternoon. Senior goalkeeper
Helen Jazzar finished with five saves.
Ursuline will host Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM. The Battlers dropped their conference opener on the road at Malone 5-0 on Thursday.
