The Ursuline College soccer team will look to continue its strong start as G-MAC play begins on Thursday afternoon against Davis & Elkins.
The Arrows came out of opening weekend with a 2-0 record after victories over West Liberty (1-0) and Tiffin (2-1).
In Saturday's road match with Tiffin, the Arrows led 1-0 throughout the match before the Dragons got a late goal to tie the match 1-1 with under nine minutes to play. Ursuline answered back with freshman
Jill Bohling's first-career goal, which turned out to be a game-winner.
The Ursuline defense has been stifling through the first two games. The Arrows have outshot opponents 43-9 on the season which earned senior goalkeeper
Helen Jazzar G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Davis & Elkins enters G-MAC play with after dropping its season opener 4-0 on the road at Edinboro. The Senators lost 1-0 to IUP on Tuesday night.
The Senators offense will rely heavily on reigning G-MAC Freshman of the Year Katrina Giantsopoulos. Last season, she scored a league-best 29 goals and was also the leader in points, points per game and assists.
In 2015, Ursuline got a hat trick from
Cassie Cripe in a 4-1 win in Pepper Pike but Davis & Elkins responded with a 2-0 shutout in Elkins in mid-October.
Ursuline will remain home on Saturday when they host Alderson Broaddus at 1:00 PM.
