The Ursuline College softball team earned an important split in their doubleheader with Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday afternoon in Pepper Pike.

The pitchers controlled the first six innings of the game before the Trojans broke a scoreless tie in the visiting half of the sixth to take a 1-0 lead.

Ursuline responded in the bottom half of the inning after sophomore
Gina Rosshirt doubled to start the inning but the Arrows could not get her around to score.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh, junior
Brigitte Snow lined a base hit to start the inning and advanced to second base on a passed ball. With two outs, sophomore
Leah Leshnack tied the game with a base hit to score Snow and send the game into extra innings.

In the 10
th inning, with the international tie breaker rule in effect, freshman
Alicia Smith drove in Leshnack from second base to give Ursuline the walk-off victory.

Rosshirt picked up the win with eight sold innings of work, allowing one run on five hits while striking out seven and walking three.

Trevecca took the second game of the series 9-6.

Ursuline will host Davis & Elkins College in a four-game series starting next Friday at 3:00 PM.Â
