Arrows Score Early and Often in Record Setting Win at Salem

Box Score

The Ursuline College soccer team opened its G-MAC conference title defense in convincing fashion with a 12-0 win over Salem International on a soggy Thursday afternoon in Salem, WV. The 12 goals scored broke a school record previously set last year against Salem International.

With a steady rain falling as the game got underway, the Arrows (2-1, 1-0 G-MAC) got on the board just before the 9:00 minute mark when junior Cassie Cripe put her first goal of the season in the back of the net. Not even two minutes later, Cripe found sophomore Emily Justus who picked up her first goal of the season and the Arrows were in front 2-0.

Cripe wasted little time in picking up two more assists as she connected with senior Vanessa Consiglio who notched her second two-goal performance on the young season. The freshmen contingent of Andie Widmer, Aline Czaplicki, Starr Bodi and Haley Knox all had goals for the Arrows in the first half to help build an 8-0 advantage. Junior McKenzie O'Brien capped off the scoring in the first half with her first goal of the season on a Czaplicki assist.

Sophomore Steph Chlad scored back-to-back goals in the first two minutes of the half, the second coming on a header set-up by O'Brien from the far left post. Chlad then returned the favor with an assist of her own to Czaplicki for her second goal of the game.

In total, eight Arrows scored in the game while five more notched at least one assist. The Arrows totaled 46 shots in the game while the Tigers did not register a shot on goal on the afternoon.

Salem goalkeeper Bre'Ana Felix fought through a tough afternoon and finished with 19 saves.

The Arrows will return to West Virginia on Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm to take on Ohio Valley. The Fighting Scots fell to Cedarville 8-1 in their G-MAC opener on Thursday. There will be live video and stats for the game and a link can be found on the schedule page at www.ursulinearrows.com.
