Soccer Blanks Ohio Valley 7-0 on Thursday Afternoon

The Ursuline Arrows soccer team scored early and often in a 7-0 bounce back win over visiting Ohio Valley University on Thursday afternoon in Pepper Pike. 

The Arrows (8-6-1, 7-4-1) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when senior Vanessa Consiglio (Milton, Ontario, Canda/Bishop Reading) took a pass from sophomore Steph Chlad (Eastlake/Eastlake North) and put it in the back of the net in the 14th minute. Less than a minute later, Chlad and Consiglio connected again to make it 2-0. The goal was Consiglio's 12th of the season which leaves her six goals shy of the school record of 49 goals in a career set by Paige Rowan. 

Ursuline added to their lead in the 18th minute when sophomore Emily Justus(Massillon/Jackson) converted a pass from junior Cassie Cripe (Westfield, IN/Westfield) to make it 3-0. Freshman Andie Widmer (Avon/Elyria Catholic) got in on the scoring in the 37th minute to make it 4-0. Freshman Haley Knox (Medina/Medina) capped off the first half scoring with her third goal of the season to give the Arrows a 5-0 lead at the half. 

Knox found Justus early in the second half for her second goal of the game and third of the season to push the lead to 6-0 and Widmer capped off the scoring with her second of the game on another assist from Knox. 

Ursuline outshot Ohio Valley 37-1 in the contest while freshman goalkeeper Sam Hudson (Strongsville/Strongsville) picked up her first career shutout with one save. The Fighting Scots freshman goalie Precious McIntosh notched 22 saves. 

The Arrows will play their last regular season home game on Saturday afternoon when they host Salem International at 1:00 PM. Saturday will be Senior Day for Lex Bradford, Leah Zucker and Vanessa Consiglio as the three will be recognized for their accomplishments at halftime.
