Box Score The Ursuline College soccer team dropped a 4-3 overtime decision on the road at Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday evening. The Arrows erased a 3-1 second half deficit to force the extra period.
Ursuline (7-4-1, 6-3-1) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when freshman Aline Czaplicki scored her fourth goal of the season on an assist from senior Vanessa Consiglio.
Trevecca (7-5-1, 5-4-1) tied the game in the 24th minute when sophomore Courtney Dyer scored on an unassisted goal from the right corner. The game went into the half tied 1-1.
The Trojans took their first lead of the night in the 54th minute on a goal from sophomore Diana Corzine to make it 2-1 and in the 65th minute freshman Cassandra Voiles made it 3-1.
Ursuline found its offense once again five minutes later when freshman Haley Knox picked up her second goal of the season on an assist from Consiglio and junior Cassie Cripe to make it 3-2 with 20 minutes remaining in regulation. With just under five minutes to play, Consiglio stepped up ands scored from the left side from sophomore Emily Justus to tie the game 3-3 and force overtime.
After junior goalkeeper Helen Jazzar made a tremendous save on a penalty kick late in overtime, with just 17 seconds remainig, sophomore Anna Hoffman snuck a goal in from the left side that just made it inside the far post for the game winner.
Trevecca attempted 25 shots in the game, 11 of which were on goal while the Arrows had eight shots and five on goal. Jazzar registered seven saves while her counterpart sophomore Liz Denton had two saves.
Ursuline has secured a spot in the G-MAC Championships at the end of the month but their seeding has yet to be determined.
The Arrows remain on the road on Saturday afternoon when they take on Kentucky Wesleyan College. The match will begin at 1:00 PM EST/2:00 PM CST and there will not be live stats available.
