Box Score The #10 ranked Ursuline College soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie agsainst visiting Cedarville on Thursday afternoon in Pepper Pike. The tie puts Ursuline at 6-0-1 in the G-MAC and gives them a total of 19 points which puts them one point in front of second place Davis & Elkins.
Ursuline looked to have an early goal when senior Vanessa Consiglio missed just wide of the goal in the first five minutes. Freshman Aline Czaplicki also had a great look but hit the crossbar and the game remained scoreless at the intermission.
The shots in the first half were even at eight a piece.
With the game tied in the 69th minute, Cedarville junior Grace Miorelli snuck a shot past Ursuline goalkeeper Helen Jazzar to put the Yellow Jackets in front 1-0. It wasn't until the 84th minute when Cassie Cripe broke away and knocked in her sixth goal of the season to tie the game at one and force overtime.
The overtimes played out just like much of regulation team with both teams taking three and two shots respectively in each extra frame.
Cedarville outshot Ursuline 21-18 in the game and Jazzar recorded a season-best 16 saves while her counterpart junior Hanna Harris made six.
The Arrows will get a seven-day rest before traveling to Alderson Broaddus University next Thursday to take on the Battlers. Ursuline took the first meeting between the two squads in Pepper Pike 1-0. The match is set to begin at 7;00pm.
