OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Ursuline College soccer team clinched the Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season title with a 1-0 victory at Kentucky Wesleyan College on Thursday (Oct. 23 night). UC's victory improved the club to 13-3 overall and 8-1 in G-MAC play and earned the Arrows a first round bye in the conference's six-team postseason tournament.
The two G-MAC semifinal matches will now be held at the Ursuline College Soccer Field on Nov. 6 and the title match will be played in Pepper Pike on the afternoon of Nov. 8.
Kentucky Wesleyan is now 9-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in conference play.
Sophomore Cassie Cripe scored the only goal of the match, her sixth of the season, at 74:50 off a pass from junior Vanessa Consiglio, the nation's leader in assists with 17.
Kentucky Wesleyan took 13 shots, one more than Ursuline. The Panthers had eight shots on goal compared to six by the Arrows but KWC couldn't solve UC sophomore keeper Helen Jazzar. She made eight saves while earning her sixth complete game shutout of the year. UC has shutout the opposition nine times in 16 matches.
The Arrows will wrap up the regular season in Nashville on Saturday (Oct. 25) against
Trevecca University. That match will start at 2:00 p.m. Eastern / 1:00 p.m. Central and will be covered with
free live stats.
