Prato's mother had to be happy she made the 250-mile trek up I-71 to be in attendance as her daughter scored her first collegiate goal in Ursuline College's 11-0 victory over Salem International University on Thursday (Oct. 2) afternoon.
The Arrows improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Jason Kubbins' club has won six of their last seven matches while Salem International (0-6, 0-4 G-MAC) is still in search of its first victory.
The 11 goals set a new school record. Senior forward Paige Rowan scored three times, as did junior Vanessa Consiglio. Consiglio also added four assists and the other goals came from senior Anna Feitl (first of the year), freshman Steph Chlad (first of her career), redshirt freshman Taylor Dackin and sophomore McKenzie O'Brien (first of the year).
Junior Giuliana Pugliese had two assists while sophomore Cassie Cripe, Dackin and freshman Emily Justus were also credited with helpers.
UC outshot SIU 30-1 in the first period and took a 4-0 lead into the break. Ursuline added 21 more shots in the second period to finish with a 51-2 margin in that category.
Salem's keeper Sarah Jacques hung tough and made 20 saves.
The Arrows will play their final home conference game of the season on Saturday (Oct. 4) when
Ohio Valley University comes to Pepper Pike. That match can be heard on the
Ursuline College Sports Network.
