Box Score
PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – Freshman Cassie Cripe scored 1:27 into overtime to give the fourth-seeded Ursuline College soccer team a 3-2 win over fifth-seeded Trevecca Nazarene University, the defending Great Midwest Athletic Conference champion, in the opening round of the G-MAC Women's Soccer Championship.
Ursuline advances to the semifinal round to take on regular season champion
Cedarville University Thursday (Nov. 7) on Cedarville's campus. The Lady Jackets advanced with a 3-0 victory over eighth-seeded Ohio Valley University.
The two teams took the soaked field on Saturday afternoon and Ursuline quickly jumped in front on a goal from senior Amanda Levaskevich just 4:45 into the match. The goal, which was assisted by junior Anna Fietl, would not hold up for long.
Less than three minutes after the Levaskevich score, TNU's Brooke Gann scored off a pass from Audrey Robinson to knot the game at one. With heavy rain continuing to fall and tricky playing conditions, neither team got on the board for the next hour of game time.
Aubrey Black broke that drought and put the Trojans ahead 2-1 when she scored off an assist from Ryan Alosi at 68:47.
UC had its chances but couldn't convert to tie the match until Levaskevich scored her second goal of the contest in the 83rd minute off a Cripe helper.
When the game went into overtime, Ursuline struck quickly. A loose ball from the left wing went through the hands of TNU goalkeeper Kathleen Farris and Cripe was there to push it past the goal stripe and send the Arrows onto the next round.
Farris made six saves in the match, four more than UC's freshman goalie Helen Jazzar. UC outshot TNU 16-9 on its way to avenging last year's G-MAC title match defeat.
