GENEVA, Ohio – Leslie Chinn's goal in the 49th minute was the only score of the match and pushed the visitors from Kentucky Wesleyan College past Ursuline College, 1-0, in Friday's (Oct. 25) Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest.

Ursuline fell to 9-7-1 overall and 4-5 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference while the Panthers improved to 10-6 overall and 4-5 in the conference. UC beat KWC 2-1 in Owensboro on Sep. 19 so the two teams split the season series.

UC's tough loss capped a weird series of events for the two programs. The Arrows were originally supposed to host the game on campus on Thursday (Oct. 24) but a late October snow storm made the Ursuline field unplayable. Administrators arranged for the game to be played at nearby John Carroll University at 10:30 a.m. on Friday but the snow-covered field at JCU was deemed unplayable as well, forcing the last minute move to the SPIRE Institute in Geneva.

Once the teams arrived at the state-of-the-art facility, a decision needed to be made as to whether the match should be played inside or outside. The head coaches got together and decided to play it outdoors and then both teams, who were ready to go early in the morning, came out sluggish in the first half.

Neither team was able to get on the board in the first period, a half in which UC outshot KWC 5-4. The Panthers came out and scored the goal early in the second half and held on for dear life to pick up a much-needed three points in a hotly-contest conference race.

Kathryn Dishion made five saves in goal for KWC, two more than Ursuline's freshman goalkeeper Helen Jazzar. Each team finished the match with eight shots and UC was led by senior Amanda Levaskevich and junior Paige Rowan, both of whom attempted a pair of shots.

The Arrows will conclude the regular season tomorrow (Oct. 26) with a 1:00 p.m. match at Nordonia High School (Macedonia, Ohio) against Trevecca Nazarene University. At halftime of the match, seniors will be honored as part of 'Senior Day' festivities.

Ursuline will be looking to avenge a 2-1 defeat suffered at the hands of the Trojans down in Nashville on Sep. 21. Max Radigan will call the action live on the Ursuline College Sports Network.
