PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Ursuline College soccer team scored the first goal but Cedarville University's three second half scores propelled the Lady Jackets to a 4-2 road win to remain perfect in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
Ursuline is winless in its last three matches and sits at 9-6-1 overall and 4-4 in the G-MAC while Cedarville won its fourth straight match and improved to 12-4 overall and 8-0 in conference play in the process.
Sophomore Vanessa Consiglio put the Arrows up 1-0 in the 11th minute when she received a pass from junior Paige Rowan inside the box to fire a shot past CU goalkeeper Hanna Harris.
Ursuline held the lead for a little more than four minutes until Jacoby Ziegler, the conference leader in goals, scored the first of her three goals on the day to tie the match at 1-1.
It remained a 1-1 contest for more than 56 minutes until Consiglio notched her 11th goal of the season to give UC a one-score lead.
Ziegler struck again at 76:20 to tie it and once more at 79:24 to put the Lady Jackets ahead for good. Grace Miorelli scored off a pass from Kristi Wolff in the 83rd minute for an insurance goal and the Arrows couldn't get past Harris to inch any closer.
CU's goalkeeper made four saves, one fewer than UC freshman goalie Helen Jazzar. Cedarville outshot Ursuline 17-7 including a 10-4 difference in the second period.
The Arrows will be back in action again on Thursday (Oct. 24) when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College at 3:30 p.m. UC beat KWC in Owensboro, Ky., on Sep. 19. The re-match will be covered with free audio on the Ursuline College Sports Network.
