NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Host and regular season champion Trevecca Nazarene University scored a pair of goals in a two minute span on its way to a 3-0 victory over third-seeded Ursuline College in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship Match on Saturday (Nov. 3) afternoon.
TNU’s Brooke Gann took a pass from Kayla VanEs and shot from the left side of the box to beat UC senior goalkeeper Rachael Smith in the 22nd minute to put her team up 1-0. Two minutes later, Becky Bartos scored her third goal of the year – also on an assist from VanEs – when she found space in the left corner to widen the Trojan lead.
Ursuline went into the break trailing 2-0 after being outshot 4-2 with shots on goal from freshman Vanessa Consiglio and sophomore Anna Feitl that were turned away by Bekah Headrick.
In the second period, UC managed just three shots, none of which were on target. Trevecca Nazarene scored an insurance goal in the 51st minute on Gann’s second tally of the match on an assist by Lindsey Robinson.
Smith made two saves in her final collegiate contest.
Ursuline concluded the 2012 season with an 11-6 mark while Trevecca Nazarene went 12-3-3.
