UC Advances to G-MAC Title Match with 1-0 Win over Cedarville

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – Junior Amanda Levaskevich scored the only goal of the match in the 36th minute as third-seeded Ursuline College knocked off second-seeded Cedarville University 1-0 in the first semifinal of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championships, held Friday (Nov. 2) afternoon in Nashville, Tennesee.

Freshman Vanessa Consiglio assisted on Levaskevich’s goal and then the defense and senior goalkeeper Rachael Smith shut down the Yellow Jacket attack over the final 54 minutes, including Smith's three credited saves as she was determined to extend her career another day. UC took three shots during the match - all of which were on goal and came in the first half - while CU goalkeeper Alysia Bennett made two saves.

Cedarville recorded seven total shots with five coming in the second stanza.

With the win, Ursuline improved to 11-5 overall while the Yellow Jackets saw their season come to an end with a 7-10-2 mark.

Ursuline will take on the winner of this evening’s match between Trevecca Nazarene University (10-3-3, 3-0 G-MAC) and Urbana University. The title match will be held tomorrow (Nov. 3) at 3:00 p.m. Central / 4:00 p.m. Eastern.

The Arrows lost to Trevecca Nazarene 1-0 on Oct. 13 but defeated Urbana 1-0 last Sunday (Oct. 28).
