TAMPA, Fla. – Six different players recorded at least one goal as the Ursuline College soccer team rolled over Florida College 9-0 on Wednesday (Oct. 17) afternoon.
With the win, the Arrows are now 7-5 overall while Florida College slipped to 5-5-3.
Sophomore Paige Rowan scored the first goal of the match in the fourth minute when she scored on a ball from junior midfielder Amanda Levaskevich. In the 11th minute, Rowan hooked up freshman Vanessa Consiglio for her first goal of the match that put the Arrows up 2-0.
Consiglio’s classmate Taylor MacIver gave UC some more breathing room in the 16th minute when she scored her conference-best 10th goal of the season on an assist from sophomore Anna Feitl. Just 65 seconds later, rookie Alexis Zubick headed home the first goal of her collegiate career on a corner kick from Consiglio.
Levaskevich closed the scoring in the first half in the 21st off a MacIver assist.
After outshooting the Falcons 18-2 in the first period, the Arrows came out and turned in another solid 45 minutes to finish off the contest. Consiglio scored her fifth goal of the season and second of the game on another Feitl assist in the 58th minute. The true freshman from Milton, Ontario, Canada then notched her second assist of the game when she assisted on senior Amanda Shay’s first goal of the season.
In the 67th minute, Consiglio scored her third goal of the match to notch her first career hat trick. Her six goal of 2012 came on an assist from senior Heather Beachy who also helped on Ursuline’s final score, the second of the contest for Shay.
Ursuline outshot Florida College 28-5 in the match and made life easy for the UC goalkeeping trio of senior Rachael Smith, junior Jill Nazor and sophomore Amanda Ponchak. The backline that featured seniors Hillary Crookston, Rebecca Dort and Alix Shanks in addition to underclassmen Kristina Petrovic, Brittany Prato, Danielle Sturwold and freshman Leah Zucker quickly put a half to any Falcon threats.
The Arrows will practice tomorrow before a Friday (Oct. 19) night match at
Southeastern University. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
