Soccer shutout streak extended with 2-0 win over Defiance

The Ursuline College soccer team (7-2) won its sixth-straight game and extended its streak to 535 minutes without allowing a goal. A streak in which they have outscored its opponents by a total score of 16-0.

In the 12th minute of the game, freshman Paige Rowan scored the games first goal, taking the ball from the endline and sliding it past the goalkeeper into the net. This was her fourth goal of the season.

Ursuline put the game away in the second half when Amanda Levaskevich scored her team leading ninth goal, an unassisted score that she kept low and slid under a diving goalie.

Overall the game was even on paper as Ursuline out-shot Defiance only 9-8, while Rachael Smith made five saves. Defiance had four corner kicks to the Arrows two, while UC had eight fouls to seven for Defiance.

The Arrows will put their streak to the test tomorrow, hosting Bethany College - which was originally September 23. The game, which is currently scheduled to be played on campus at the UC Soccer Field, may be moved due to poor field conditions from all the rain last week. A final decision will be made on Thursday morning.
