Two years ago, the soccer team won a program record nine wins and finished above .500 for the first time in team history. Last year, the team won a program record ten times and finished above .500 for the second-straight year. On Saturday the trend continued as the Ursuline soccer program won its program record 11th win and will finish above .500 for the third straight season.
With only four minutes left in a scoreless contest, freshman Paige Rowan scored the game-winning goal off of a crossing pass from
Amanda Shay. Paige received the pass and flicked it over the top of the Cedarville goalkeeper.
The 11th win of the season is not the only team record the Arrows have earned this season. At 11-2 so far this season, Ursuline has shutout a record nine teams this season and also have currently won ten-straight games. In fact, over the ten-game win streak, Ursuline allowed just two goals and have out-scored its opponents 26-2.
Defensively,
Rachael Smith earned her 30th career win in three years as starter by making four saves on nine shots. The Arrows matched with nine shots, four of which were saved, but the one that was not proved to be the game-winner.
UC will look to build upon its established records on Tuesday, when the Arrows play host to rival, Notre Dame College. The game, which will be senior day at Ursuline, will be played at The Laurel School soccer fields and start at 3:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the UC Sports Network for those who can't make it out to the game.
