Plummer Steps Down as Volleyball Coach, Accepts Same Position at Walsh

The Ursuline College Athletic Department announced that Jayme Plummer has accepted the Head Volleyball Coach job with Walsh University.

Plummer spent time at Division I Cleveland State and The University of Akron as an Assistant Coach before becoming a full-time head coach at Ursuline the last four seasons.

"I want to thank Athletic Director Cindy McKnight for taking a chance on me and offering my first collegiate head coaching position. AD McKnight has been a mentor to me over the last four years, and will always be grateful for her friendship," said Plummer.

He added, "It's hard saying goodbye to an amazing group of young women. They are the reason I coach, and I will miss them very much. The players have worked hard, and the future is bright for Ursuline volleyball. Though it is difficult to move on from a great place full of wonderful people, I am excited for my next opportunity as a coach."

He led the Arrows to 17 wins in 2016 which was the third most in program history. During that same season, he helped lead the Arrows to an upset win in the first round of the Great Midwest Tournament over defending champion Trevecca Nazarene in four sets. Ursuline qualified for the postseason in three of the four seasons with Plummer at the helm.

In 2018, the Arrows went 12-17 overall and had a four-match winning streak that started with an upset win over Lake Erie College in five sets in September. The Arrows were eliminated from the G-MAC tournament by eventual champion Hillsdale last November.

During his tenure, Ursuline was a three-time AVCA Academic Team Award winner and had a 3.54 GPA this past fall which was second in the department. The Arrows had nine All-Conference selections including a First Team selection in 2016. Ursuline had the most kills in program history in 2016 with 1,367 and most assists in program history with 1,261 also in 2016.

Last season, Ursuline senior and one of the first members of Plummer's initial recruiting class, Katelyn Selleny became the conference's all-time leader in assists with 3,618 and she also surpassed the 1,000-career dig mark with 1,061. Junior transfer Kassidy Stilwell became fifth player in program history to go over the 1,000-career dig mark with 1,007 in her time at Ursuline.

Ursuline is currently conducting a national search for a new head coach.
